Thanks for the info. Good to know that they played on this date. I wonder if there are any dates that they did not play.

And a special thanks for the grateful dead of the day link. A whole other playground of shows and stories!

Well, August 9 is the famous one - no recordings exist for shows on that date, either. I'm sure there are others.

I do the same daily thing that you do, and when there are no shows on "this day in history" I usually go to the "this just in" and find something there - today I landed on some upgrades of the 1981 new years run -

Well, 8/9 is my birthday (my 23rd was pretty crappy for obvious reasons).

Ironically, my Dad's is 11/27. Never noticed that there wasn't a show on that day.

Took until 1994 to hit my brother's b-day (3/4)

Yep, I do the TDIH thing too. My other way to pick a show is the change method. Reach into the coin jar and draw a coin or check whatever is in my pocket. Today I had two quarters: 1981 and 2014. I'll normally check TDIH first, if no '81 then pick a random show or old favorite from the year. Given your post I'm off to the NYE 1981 run!

I sometimes use this random date generator to select shows....
https://www.random.org/calendar-dates/

just plug in whatever criteria you wish to limit it to, and it does the rest....

That’s cool. Using my coin method, I got two pennies back from my oil change. 1975 and 1994. Give you one guess what’s on store for tonight. :-)

Yeah it's my first. But I'm always hoping someone will go taadaa. Pasadena CC was an awesome place. What a song list. Can you imagine?

This is a show by "the Dead" from 8/9/03. It actually contains one of the best live Crazy Fingers you'll ever here. If memory serves this is Bobby, Phil, Mickey, Billy, with Bruce Hornsby on keys, Warren haynes on guitar/vox, and Joan on vox. If you're going to have a post-Jerry band, that's about as strong as it would get. Joan singing Crazy Fingers is really pretty.

I thought the same. We need some Windy City Heads to start going through their or their parents basements, attics and storage units.
